EASTERN EQUATORIA REFERENDUM SECURITY OFFICERS UNDER TRAINING

Security personnel earmarked for safeguarding the upcoming referendum activities in Eastern Equatoria state started their training in Torit.

Witek Nowosieski, a member of the United Nations Police, is the chief facilitator of the training exercise codenamed “Joint operation centre on security”, Emmanuel Radio reported.

Mr. Nowosieski said the joint centre comprises of police officers selected from various units.

He added that the training aimed at promoting security during the referendum period by providing information on the exercise to the citizens so as to avoid anxiety.

The “Joint operation centre on security” officers also received training on how to handle cases of violence.

Mr. Nowosieski said the commitment of Southern Sudan security personnel to maintain peace in the region would secure a peaceful and harmonious environment for the referendum.
