The governor of Western Equatoria supports a military solution to put a full-stop to the havoc Ugandan rebels are causing in the state.
BBC reported recently that forces from Southern Sudan, DR Congo and Uganda were preparing a new offensive against the Lord’s Resistance Army after the December 2008 attack failed to evict the rebels from the region.Governor Joseph Bakasoro told SCR News that the diplomatic solution failed and the LRA is killing people, abducting children and raping women in his state.
He added that aa military force was the best means to flash the rebels out of the state.
Mr. Bakasoro said more forces were deployed in the area to protect civilians and organized vigilantes were part of an early warning system to alert the military for LRA moves.
For the past 20 years, LRA rebels have terrorized northern Uganda, southern Sudan, Central African Republic and DR Congo, killing, abducting and maiming thousands.
Southern Sudan has been the victim to the LRA after peace talks mediated by its government between the Ugandan government and the rebels failed.
