The government of Japan pledged a continuous support for Southern Sudan after the referendum regardless the option voters may choose.

Japanese Ambassador to the Sudan, Akinor Wada, made the pledge yesterday in Torit.

Ambassador Wada said his government financed the referendum exercise and it would dispatch observers to the region during the exercise.

Ambassador Wada was in Torit to launch an education project called “Strengthening Mathematic and Sciences Education in Southern Sudan” to help teachers.

Eastern Equatoria acting governor, Otim Peter Karlo, urges the Japanese governor to extend the education support and offer scholarships to teachers to study mathematics and sciences in Japan.
