A Sudanese educationist said the new nation of Southern Sudan will require tolerance and forgiveness in order for all to coexist in peace.

Edward Kasran, a senior technical advisor with the Education Development Centre, told Good News Radio that for Southern Sudan to become a new nation citizens need to have their hearts inclined towards God and show love towards each other.

Mr. Kasran added that peaceful coexistence comes from peaceful hearts.

He urged the communities to live by the traditional value of tolerance, explaining that it was negotiation and mutual understanding that promoted human co-existence.

Mr. Kasran appealed to the citizens to extend love also to enemies.

He urged the communities in Sudan to shun the culture of revenge.

Peace and reconciliation is mostly needed in the Sudan as the citizens of the South prepare for the voter registration scheduled for November 14 and the referendum slated for January 9, 2011.
