The SPLA in Juba is challenging United Nations and other foreign diplomats to conduct a joint fact-finding mission on atrocities allegedly committed by the army in Equatoria region.

SPLA Spokesman, Brigadier General Lul Ruai Koang told journalists on Friday that the army is ready to support a fact-finding mission in the country, Radio Bakhita reports.

The army is warning the international community against issuing ‘a false statement’ against South Sudan, General Ruai says.

The spokesman says the army has the right and capacity to protect its citizens from internal or foreign aggression.

A recent report indicated that government and opposition forces destroyed about one thousand five hundred huts in Yei town.
