A British deminer died of injuries sustained from an explosion while working on a mine clearance site in Kapoeta.
Miners Advisory Group International (MAG) said in a press release SCR News received today that Stephen “Darby” Allan, a technical field manager based in Kapoeta, Eastern Equatoria, was critically injured in an explosion and died on Friday afternoon.Nobody else was injured in the explosion.
Mr. Darby, 52, was working with MAG for four years.
UN Mine Action Office (UNMAO) said all MAG operations were suspended in Kapoeta following the fatal blast.
A UNMAO team is investigating the circumstances surrounding the explosion that took the life of this former British Navy officer.
