Recurrent landmine laying along the Ikwoto-Torit-Magwi roads poses a serious security threat to the lives of people in Eastern Equatoria state.
Eastern Equatoria governor, Louis Lobong Lojore, condemned the act during his key note address at the reopening of the State AssemblyMr. Lobong warned that those were the acts of enemies of peace and they would not prevail with their evil actions.
The governor added that his government was on the alert to arrest the criminals responsible for the mine laying.
Mr. Lobong singled out the situation in Budi County as another threat to peace.
He said a reconciliation meeting between Toposa and Buya communities did not stop cattle raids and killings in the area.
The governor urged community leaders and politicians to ensure insecurity agents were arrested.
Mr. Lobong said the youth in Loronyo was involved in curbing insecurity and urged other areas to follow the lead to bring peace in the region.
