Twenty five political parties are meeting in Juba to build a consensus that will guarantee a free and fair referendum.

SCR News spoke to various party leaders about their expectations about the meeting.

The leader of Sudan Peoples’ Liberation Movement for Democratic Change, Lam Akol, said south Sudan needed collective decisions to tackle the challenges from referendum, development, and services provision.

Juma Sayeed, from the National Congress Party, said the meeting would do away with the elections’ differences and come up with one decision on either separation or unity in a peaceful manner.

Martin Elia Lomoru, head of Southern Sudan Democratic Form, said he expect dialogue and reconciliation during the forum.

The All Parties forum to prepare for the referendum started today at the Nyakuron Cultural Centre.
