UNESCO urges South Sudan leaders to fight against illiteracy

United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization or UNESCO called on South Sudan leaders at all levels to demonstrate political will to fight illiteracy.
 
The call comes on celebrating the 50 years of International Literacy Day on Thursday, under the theme: ‘Reading the past; writing the future’.
 
In a statement, UNESCO says eradicating illiteracy is a way of empowering the citizens and builds the society of South Sudan.
 
It calls on all stakeholders to redouble their efforts and remain committed in the war against illiteracy in the country.
 
UNESCO renews its commitment to contribute to the reduction of the level of illiteracy in South Sudan.
