The president of the republic said that he would not accept an alternative to unity despite his commitment to the CPA that provides for an referendum on self-determination for South Sudan.
President Omar al-Bashir told the parliament that he will not accept an alternative to unity, Reuters reported.Mr. al-Bashir said unity was the probable outcome of the referendum if southerners were given freedom of choice in a fair, free vote.
The president added that demarcation of disputed border points with the south was a decisive factor in conducting a fair and free referendum.
