Nine members of the northern ruling party today joined officially the SPLM.

Former member of the NCP Political Bureau, Alison Manani Magoya, led the defecting group.

Mr. Magoya told the press that there was a change of mood within the NCP leadership towards the south adding that it would not help in the implementation of the CPA.

He cited delays in the process of the south Sudan and Abyei referenda, border demarcation and threats to southerners living in the north adding that the situation has become unbearable for any southerner working for the NCP.

Paulino Zizi, also a former senior NCP member, said his team was with the northern party to protect south Sudanese during the war.

Mr. Zizi added that his team concluded that there were no way south Sudanese could remain with the north unless southerners wanted to continue in trouble.

The NCP dissidents that joined the SPLM include three former members of state parliaments, a former deputy speaker and a former commissioner.
