Preparations for the referendum on self-determination for Southern Sudan are in full swing in Central Equatoria State.

Manase Lomole Waya is the Chairman of the Referendum Committee in Central Equatoria. He told SCR News this morning in Juba that his state is better organized for the referendum than it was for the general elections.

Mr. Lomole expressed optimism about the registrations period, saying that Central Equatoria will enroll voters in the given three weeks.

Mr. Lomole revealed that the Government of Southern Sudan approved half of the proposed referendum budget for Central Equatoria, some three million Sudanese pounds.

Southern Sudan Referendum Bureau announced yesterday that registration for the popular consultation takes place between November 14 and December 4.
