The inauguration set the beginning of the preparation phase for the annual School tournament, which will involve basic and secondary schools’ students from all Sudan.
Hundreds of students from various schools gathered and marched along the streets of Wau town to join the ceremony presided by the Vice President of South Sudan, the GoSS Minister of Education, the Governor and the Minister of Education of Western Bahr el-Ghazal State.
The competition, promoted by the Federal Ministry of Education in cooperation with the GoSS Ministry of Education and the Western Bahr el-Ghazal State Ministry of Education, will open officially on November 27th and will end on December 14th.
Around seven thousand students are expected to take part to sport and cultural competitions in Wau.
During the weeks leading to the opening of the tournament different teams will be responsible for the preparation of the playgrounds to host the competitions and for the renovation of the schools where the participants will be accommodated.
