The head of the Southern Sudan Referendum Bureau has denied media reports that a date had been decided upon for voter registration for the referendum
On Tuesday, the UN-owned Miraya radio quoted the Bureau’s Reech Chan as saying that voter registration will begin in October.
In an interview with Sudan Radio Service, Chan said that there was a possibility that the exercise would start in October.
Mr. Chan Reech said that the commission has yet to decide on the registration materials like the ballot papers, registration books etc.
Mr. Chan Reech urged southerners to prepare themselves for the referendum.
