Central Equatoria state Assembly vigorously condemned the shooting that killed at least 8 people in Yei County.
Last week a soldier killed 8 people in Yei town after demanding his wife that left the culprit’s home for about three months now.

In a press release this morning in Juba, Speaker of Central Equatoria state Assembly Naphtali Hassan Gale said the state Assembly is sudden by the shooting that killed two pregnant mothers and six children last week in Lataya Yei River County.

Mr. Hassan revealed that the incident occurred at a critical moment when the people of southern Sudan need to unite for the Referendum in January next year.

Mr. Hassan said the state Assembly condemned strongly the killing of the innocent civilians in Yei and Central Equatoria at large.

He urged the state government and GOSS to arrest the culprit and bring him to justice to avoid people taking law into their hands.

Mr. Hassan appealed for compensation of the aggrieve families as quick as possible.

He urged GOSS to implement the decentralization policy enshrined in the CPA in order to allow law enforcement Agencies operate well in the state.

The state Assembly cited failure of law enforcement agents in bringing the perpetrators to court of justice as denial of the citizens in the state the right to live.
