More than one thousand Congolese refugees in South Sudan fled back home on December 4, United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees in Congo reports.

UNHCR says the refugees ran from Ezo settlement of Western Equatoria to Dungu areas near the border.

The refugees were escaping the fighting between the government forces and local armed groups.

Ezo settlement which was accommodating over 3000 Congolese refugees is now almost empty, it said.

South Sudan Commission for Refugee Affairs and UNHCR are looking to assist refugee families around Ezo to relocate them to Makpandu camp.
