Millions of civilians displaced from their homes by the conflict will remain in desperate need of protection and humanitarian assistance, warns UN OCHA.

It reported that in South Sudan, food insecurity reached its highest level since the conflict began.

About 3.9 million people, or 34 percent of the population, are severely food insecure, OCHA added.

About 60 million people are displaced around the world and more than a quarter is due to the conflicts in Iraq, South Sudan and Syria.

Humanitarian partners require 20.1 billion US Dollars to meet the needs of over 87.6 million people in 37 countries around the world.
