Catechists from different parishes of Yei Catholic Diocese on Thursday concluded their first four-day training on Small Christian Communities.
Bishop Erkolano Lodu Tombe in his homily thanked Solidarity with South Sudan for organizing the workshop, praising the role of catechists in supplementing efforts of the few local priests, Radio Easter reported.
Sudan Catholic Bishops’ Conference Pastoral Coordinator Fr Philip Bingo Gamanzu says formation of Small Christian Communities in all dioceses in South Sudan was one of their key priorities though some factors halted their struggle.
Solidarity with South Sudan’s Fr Manny Ginete pledges more trainings for the catechists to strengthen their work in Small Christian Communities.
Catechists’ representative, Nathaniel Brown, says they learned a lot from the workshop, calling on fellow catechists to use the knowledge to bring change.
The training closing Eucharistic celebration was held at Lutaya Pastoral Centre.
