Yei Mayor in Central Equatoria State is calling on health authorities and development partners to increase efforts on massive HIV and AIDS awareness to prevent further spread.
Santo Paul Lasuba stresses the need to form by-laws to regulate discos and banning of prostitution to avoid more infections, Radio Easter reported.
He said recent reports from the AIDS Commission and the antiretroviral therapy show that 3,400 people are living with the virus in Yei, which he described as huge challenge.
The Mayor calls on development partners to support the municipality to improve service delivery as it hosts 71 thousand people with 28 thousand internally displaced persons.
