An environmentalist warns of negative impacts of unsustainable utilization of water resources in Eastern Equatoria State on human life and surrounding.
NIRAS International Organization Technical Advisor on Integrated Land and Water Resources Fabian Musala in Torit town calls for proper management of watersheds in the State to minimize negative environmental impacts, Radio Emmanuel reported.
He urges communities and institutions to manage watersheds, land, structures and utilities in sustainable manner for development of Eastern Equatoria State.
Mr Musala discloses that NIRAS trained some staff from Ministry Environment, Wildlife Conservation and Tourism and other line ministries on environmental impact assessment.
He explains that the trained staff would help disseminate national environmental laws to communities in counties and Boma levels.
The State Director for Environment Martin Moyi notes that environmental impact assessment has to be conducted before implementing any project in the state.
