SUDO reports human rights abuses in Sudan’s conflict-affected areas

SUDO, a United Kingdom or UK based organization reported human rights violations perpetrated by Sudan government and opposition forces throughout Darfur, Blue Nile, and South Kordofan.
 
SUDO in a statement on Wednesday said during the month of August their network of monitors verified 37 incidents of abuses where human rights of civilians are infringed.
 
The organization explained that 24 cases were committed by pro-government militias, five by government forces, three by armed opposition groups, two by ethnic militias, one by unknown bandits and two were results of a serious lack of humanitarian aid.
 
SUDO said it recorded the killing of at least 115 people, 21 victims of sexual violence, 56 individuals sustaining injuries, eight cases of kidnap and abduction, 19 arrests where individuals were detained in an inhumane manner in containers and one case of torture.
 
SUDO expressed great concerned by pro-government militia attacks on civilians in Darfur tending to their farms in order to make money grow enough food to survive.
 
It said there were 12 such attacks in which their monitors demonstrated the link between the attacks on the civilian population including killing, looting and sexual violence.
