Western Equatoria Youth Union chairperson on Monday visits the office of the President of the Republic over the issue of thirty-seven youth under detention captured last month in Maridi County, Western Equatoria State.
Simple John Bakiki in a telephone from Juba confirms that he left Yambio last Saturday to follow up the issue of youth arrested in Maridi and that the Office of the President referred him to go to the National Security Director-General’s office to get details about the youth, Radio Anisa reported.
He said South Sudan, Greater Equatoria youth leaders, Legal Affairs Secretary-General and South Sudan Youth Secretary-General joined him on the process of their colleagues.
Mr Bakiki laments that they did not yet meet with the 37 youth but the information reached them that the detainees are with the security personnel in Juba.
He greatly hopes that the detained young people captured in Maridi would be released to contribute in the peace process and the development of the state and the nation.
The youth leader urges Western Equatoria State youth to remain calm and peaceful as their leaders including the State Government is doing possible and peaceful means to bring back the 37.
Last Month SPLA Commandos from Juba commanded by a captain entered Maridi County without any prior notice to the County State authorities killed one youth, wounded three others and arrest 37 and up to now local citizens are still at hideout and about 45 took refuge in Yambio and other nearby Counties in the State.
