Chorokol Payam Paramount Chief in Ikwoto County of Eastern Equatoria appealed to telecommunication operators to provide services in the area to reduce cattle raiding.
Marcello Mario noted during the community peace and reconciliation dialogue that availability of telephone network would help inform security authorities in time, Radio Emmanuel reported.
He observed that telephone network would curb violence and cattle raiding in Chorokol and neighbouring areas in the state.
Dongotono Youth Representative Joseph Aliardo concurred with the chief and that lack of telephone network aids cattle raiding in Ikotos and Budi counties.
He mentioned that most cattle raiders succeed in their missions due to lack of access to communication as authorities cannot intervene in time.
Communities in Budi and Ikotos Counties also urged the government to open feeder roads to ease interaction through trade.
