Dongotono Community Women Representative in Ikwoto County of Eastern Equatoria State on Friday during Budi and Ikwoto Counties’ peace dialogue pointed fingers at their fellow females for promoting cattle raiding and conflicts among communities.
Pia Ange Kiwa accused women of preparing food and herbs for husbands and sons while going for cattle rustling, blaming them for praising cattle raiders after expeditions, Radio Emmanuel reported.
She appealed to her colleagues in Budi and Ikwoto Counties to discourage their husbands and sons from cattle raiding activities for peace to prevail.
Ms Kiwa called on the community to support the government by telling cattle raiders to face the law in the state.
Isoke Parish Priest of Torit Catholic Diocese Fr Peter Ben encouraged women to talk to their husbands and sons on benefits of peace.
He also acknowledged the roles Ikwoto women play to ensure peaceful co-existence amongst members of the community.
Fr Ben revealed formation of women peace committees by Isoke Parish to spearhead reconciliation and peaceful co-existence communities.
