Bush fire burnt to ashes houses leaving hundreds homeless in Naandi Payam of Ezo County on Friday.

Naandi Payam Paramount Chief Moses Salvatore Zaaza reported to Radio Anisa that the fire destroyed many houses with good number of properties, granaries with food crops, farms, goats and chicken among others.

Chief Salvatore appealed to the state government, NGOs and well wishers to rescue about 500 people living in desperate need of shelter and food in the Payam.

In the same Payam, a hunter mistook his colleague for an antelope in the bush and shot him dead on Saturday night.

The Chief confirmed that the two men went separately to hunt using torch and unfortunately 28-year-old Moses Bandayo was shot dead by mistake.

Chief Salvatore advised the public to practice traditional hunting rather than using guns at night.
