Tombura-Yambio Catholic Bishop appreciated the national government for suspending June general elections in the best interest of peace in South Sudan.
Bishop Barani Eduardo Hiiboro Kusala said South Sudan Catholic Bishops’ meeting was much concerned that if the government insisted on elections it could cause problems, Radio Anisa reported.
The Bishop said it was a wise decision to use the time for organizing census, permanent constitution and addressing issues of the transitional period to have proper elections at the end.
Bishop Hiiboro appealed to Equatorians to contribute for peace by abandoning the idea of maintaining the seat of Vice President.
The Bishop called on South Sudanese to pray for peace, urging people to choose peace over evil during Lent season.
He urged people engaged in supporting the peace process to curve on personal interest and wisely choose things that can bring peace to the country.
