Eastern Equatoria Education minister criticized Primary Leaving Certificate Exams results for 2014 as poorly performed, citing lack of seriousness among teachers, professionalism and supervisions.
Paska Hifita Oduho said head teachers should screen the candidates before registration for final examinations, Radio Emmanuel reported.
She encouraged parents to support teachers in assessing children in order to improve their school performance.
Torit County Commissioner German Charles Ojok described the results as discouraging compared to the past.
Remarks of examiners indicate that candidates’ performance in the state was dropping since 2012 due to decline in quality of teaching and learning.
The poor performance is attributed to inadequate coverage of syllabi and low interest of teachers due to low payment.
