Wau Catholic Diocese Justice and Peace Commission on Monday joined SPLA Division Five headquarters at Grinti Military Barrack to pray for peace ahead of the Christmas season.
Fr Justin Atit who presided over the Eucharistic celebration advised the soldiers to be God fearing people while protecting the country and its citizens, Radio Voice of Hope reported.
He explained that peace cannot prevail without reconciliation and dialogue between the two groups.
Acting Division Five Commander Brigadier General Peter Par hopes that South Sudanese may achieve peace next year.
Moral Orientation Director Major Mangong Anyijong Dut called on citizens to pray for peace ahead of Christmas as the army exert efforts to protect people of Western Bahr El Ghazal in particular and South Sudan in general.
