Community Organisation of Peer Educators or COPE conducted one-day civic education on Thursday for about 50 citizens of Bazungua Payam in Yambio County on the national Transitional Constitution.
Civic Education Project Manager Justin Ripai said they briefed the participants on the meaning of citizenship, human rights and system of governance as stipulated in the Transitional Constitution, Anisa Radio reported.
Bazungua Payam Administrator Margaret Duasangi urged the participants to take the message to the rest of the local population.
She urged women to form groups, warning youths against criminal activities.
Bazungua Constituency MP Michael Sikpakpa encouraged the participants to process nationality certificate to become full South Sudanese.
Participants’ representatives Joseph Valentino and Santina Khamis appreciated COPE for enlightening them on the Transitional Constitution.
The local authorities appreciated COPE for considering Bazungua Payam in its civic education program, requesting the organization to bring more activities to the area.
