Wau Catholic Bishop on Sunday ordained four deacons priests at St Mary’s Cathedral marking the feast of Christ the King.
The four priests ordained on Sunday are: John Andrea from St Kizito Parish Ngodakalla, Arkangelo Peter from St Antonio Parish, Joseph Majok of St George Aweil Parish and Levi Stephen of Mary Help of Christians Cathedral, Voice of Hope reported.
Bishop Rudolf Deng Majak in his homily thanked God for the gift of the four young men and that the Church needs more, lamenting that the seven ordained on Sunday were the only ones who persevered out of 60 in the whole country.
He called on the faithful to encourage their sons and daughters to join seminaries and convents to become priests, religious brothers and sisters.
The Bishop said the Wau has only 30 priests including the Indian Missionaries as the Diocese is large comprising the three Greater Bahr El Gazal states with nearly five million believers.
He recalled that more than 100 priests all over South Sudan deserted their vocation after the signing of the comprehensive peace agreement.
The four priests were ordained in Wau, two in Juba and one in Tombura–Yambio Dioceses bringing the total number of priests consecrated in South Sudan on the feast of Christ the King to seven.
