Western Equatoria Union of Journalists Chairperson urged communities to cooperate with journalists instead of seeing them as enemies.

Richard Badagbu told Anisa Radio that journalists are the eyes and hears of communities to update them with what is happening around the country and beyond.

He called upon media practitioners to stick to their ethics for safety by balancing stories before broadcasting, urging editors in different radio stations to cross-check articles.

He condemned jailing journalists for no reason, saying the incident was the second following the one that took place last year with Ezo County Press Secretary in Western Equatoria.

Mr Badagbu urged state, national governments and communities to protect journalists for peace and development in South Sudan.
