Nearly fifty chiefs of Wau, Western Bahr El Ghazal State gathered at Police Training Centre to get guidance on how to form effective community policing team that can work together with the state force to minimize crimes.
Police Commissioner Abraham Manyuat said the community policing members would comprise of representatives from different groups in the society to have regular meetings, working on voluntary bases.
He clarified that they divided Wau into five sectors where forces are staged to respond to emergency calls from the community policing members to ease work.
The Commissioner said chiefs continue to handle minor cases to avoid congestion at the police station and only forward serious crimes to the police to send them to the Judiciary for trial.
He noted inadequate police forces to control the state and that to crack down crimes the community must get involved.
