Wau drivers complain many roadblocks drain incomes

Drivers in Wau town of Western Bahr El Ghazal State complained that many internal roadblocks and checkpoints are over taxing their businesses.
 
Jongolona Park driver Malual Ajak during Transport Union drivers’ registration and safety rules joint campaign last Thursday, lamented that they were spending too much money on road clearance; robbing them of minimum profits, Voice of Hope reported.
 
Wau Park driver Gum Makoi wondered why officials collect money without receipts at River Jur Bridge and Bahr Sherk where several tax collection points are set.
 
Transport Union Chairperson Hawat Hassan Acuil advised drivers to register to get legal protection, calling on them to respect traffic rules and ensure insuring cars and having valid driving licenses.
 
Wau Municipality Taxation authorities denied any link to roadblocks’ charges.
