Lainya County of Central Equatoria State is pushing for capacity building of health personnel and road construction by government and development partners to foster service delivery to citizens.
County Health Assistant Commissioner Morris Samuel Laputuru challenges government to invest more in training health workers and construct roads for patients’ accessibility.
He decried inaccessibility of some remote areas to basic health services.
Mr Samuel said bad roads force vehicle owners to only attend to patients in areas of fair roads, cutting off services for others.
He disclosed that Lainya County Health Department has 21 public facilities.
Mr Samuel added that few untrained midwives are the ones performing medical delivery services.
The Health Assistant Commissioner made the statement in a telephone conversation with Radio Easter on Wednesday.
The official also recommended for community awareness campaign on HIV/AIDS in Lainya County where locals do not seem to care about the scourge.
