WBG Commissioners discover challenges

Western Bahr El Ghazal Commissioners and Wau Mayor on Tuesday during the first state evaluation forum in Wau uncovered issues affecting development.
 
Raja, Jur River and Wau County Commissioners praised the successful completion of County Headquarters construction, payam creation and the formation of the lawmakers, Voice of Hope reported.
 
Jur River County Commissioner John Arop Apai said the creation of the county headquarters remains a millstone to progress in achieving services delivery.
 
Wau Commissioner Angelo Taban Biajo noted that many staff transferred to the County did not report and that they were affected by the December defection of army from Mapel and Girinti which displaced many farmers.
 
Raja County Commissioner Hassan Jalab recommended prioritizing and speeding up internal roads maintenance and improving health services through provision of medical personnel and addressing the low teachers’ salaries.
 
State Governor Rizik Zachariah Hass appreciated Counties’ performances, noting that agriculture activities were not reflected well in their reports, urging Commissioners to lay bricks to help in the construction of projects in rural areas.
 
Most Counties face the challenge of inadequate police force to combat crimes especially in Jur Rive County where 42 out of 48 murder cases in the state were reported.
