Eastern Equatoria Minister of Education appealed to teachers to follow right procedure of expressing their grievances to concerned authority.
In a respond to Teachers’ Union threatening letter to lay down tools over unpaid allowances, Mark Akio said right process allow smooth discussion to resolve issues of concern, Radio Emmanuel reported.
He described the demand of the Union to lay down tools as a surprise, saying the Union has neither written nor approached Education Ministry over any grievances.
Eastern Equatoria Teachers’ Union in a letter dated November 3, demand for Friday allowance, house allowance, chalk, hardship allowance, travelling and feeding allowance.
Mr Akio said the teachers have never reached any agreement with concerned authorities over the demanded allowances.
Teachers’ threats to lay-down their tools raised concerns among some students in Torit schools.
The Ministry of Education in a letter Radio Emmanuel saw condemned the step taken by the Teachers Professional Union, terming it ‘an incitement intended to cause instability in the state’.
