The Catholic Diocese of Tombura-Yambio on Wednesday launched thanksgiving prayers to conclude 40 days after the burial of Bishop Joseph Gasi Abangite who passed away in Yambio on September 13.

Liturgical Committee and Shrine Overseer Fr John Gbemboyo announced that the thanksgiving prayers would start with a holy mass to celebrate the successful life of the late Emeritus Bishop Gasi at St Mary Parish in Yambio.

He said Bishop Barani Eduardo Hiiboro is expected to bless the tomb of the late Bishop Gasi with holy water and then dedicate the church building to be a shrine for all faithful.

St Mary and Bakhita parishioners including other church denominations assembled for the four-day prayers at every 6:00 PM for the holy mass, overnight jubilations and reflections.

Anisa Radio journalist visited the shrine at St Mary Parish and found that construction of the tomb of Bishop Gasi completed and the wall of the church inside and the ceiling board was painted in white.
