National Deputy Cabinet Affairs Minister on Monday told the fourth Governors’ Forum that the government and United Nations Mission in South Sudan or UNMISS are working on strategies to ensure safe return and reintegration of Internally Displaced Persons or IDPs to their homes.
Selwa Gibril Beriberi explained that UN Secretary-General told the High Commissioner for Refugees summit recently that UNMISS bases are not meant to host a huge volume of protection seekers living in bad conditions.
She revealed that the South Sudan Police Service is undergoing training on understanding community service and relations to build confidence and trust for IDPs’ return and stay among community members with assurance of protection.
Dr Gibril warned governors against interfering with state legislature’s affairs and embezzling their finances.
