South Sudan Women with Disabilities Network demanded five percent share of government affirmative action given to females in the country.

Caroline Atim, a deaf lady talking through her interpreter, Mr Victor Oo, said women with disabilities are always cheated by their able bodied counterparts, making it difficult for them to benefit from the 25 percent, Radio Emmanuel reported.

The activist called for deliberate efforts to build the capacity of illiterate women, refuting ideas that women with disabilities can only have political representation at national arena.

She called for quality education for people with disabilities, saying the deaf can learn sign language and those with visual impairment use brails as elements of global inclusive education.

The activist declined desires of joining politics, saying her interest is to mobilize and build the capacity of women with disabilities.

Ms Atim, a University graduate, was talking to Radio Emmanuel on Friday, during feedback of views on constitutional review workshop South Sudan Law society organized in Torit.
