The Office of the President of the Republic of South Sudan on Tuesday announced appending signature to Media Bills, qualifying them into Media Acts henceforth.

The long awaited bills include the Media Authority, Access to Information and Broadcasting Corporation.

Presidential Press Secretary Ateny Wek Ateny calls for the formation of broadcasting corporation body within October by competent persons.

He assured media fraternity of the right to appeal if the signed bills differ from the original sent to the National Legislature.

Juba Monitor Editor in Chief Alfred Taban remains sceptical and worried about the content of appended bills, citing possibility of provisions’ alterations.

He called on the media fraternity to remain vigilant to see what features in the Media Acts’ content after a long delay in the presidency.

Mr Taban said if proved the exact genuine provisions, the media laws would be an organ of supervision to journalists’ operations in a friendly atmosphere.
