The Sudan Revolutionary Front or SRF accused the government of ‘nourishing the armed conflicts through tribal clashes in Darfur’.
SRF Chairman Malik Agar in statement on Monday called for the formation of an independent inquiry committee to investigate the causes of the fighting between Ma’aliya and Rizeigat in Um Rakuba, East Darfur last week, Voice of Peace reported.
The statement stressed the need to disarm the Janjaweed, the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces, the Popular Defence Forces and all tribal militias in the region.
It demanded compensation for victims and others affected by the clashes in Um Rakuba.
The SRF appealed to native administrators and civil society organisations to stop the bloodshed in Darfur.
