Residents of Lutaya area in Yei River County on Thursday moved to repair one of the widening potholes near Lutaya Bridge blocking movements of people and goods after each rain.

Area Sub-Chief Elijah Luwate commended the residents for voluntarily repairing the bad pothole that usually cuts off transport if rain poured, Easter Radio reported.

He urged the municipal authority to avail culverts and tractor to help them repair the Bridge properly and the big hole near the main market.

The area headman Charles Juma lamented that it was scaring to witness motor riders struggling in the middle of the bridge to cross with some passengers.

The Council Secretary Joseph Lomude said there are many bad spots that need to be repaired, calling on residents to maintain peace and participate actively in any scheduled work.

Last week, Boda-boda riders at Sobe-Hass Petro Station junction collected stones and gravels to fix some worse road spots in the town.

Easter Radio could not reach the town block authority for comments on some worsening bad road spots in the town.
