United Nations Educational Scientific and Cultural Organization or UNESCO organized two-week training for forty-three South Sudan youth on development of mobile applications to join the world of innovation and wealth creation.
UNESCO country representative Salah Khaled during the launch on Tuesday said the training aimed at empowering young people with high-level skills and confidence to develop and promote locally relevant mobile applications to contribute to self-generated and viable employment opportunities.
He added that by utilizing the potential in a mobile phone, the young people can create business and acquire skills that give them an edge in the IT jobs in the national or international market.
Mr Khaled called on South Sudan development partners to create synergy between this initiative and their ongoing interventions to support the young South Sudanese find an economic bearing.
Zain South Sudan Chief Commercial Officer Robert West told the participants that capacity building is one of the main strategic forces of their company to empower South Sudanese youth with necessary skills to develop a more productive future.
One of the young South Sudanese women attending the two weeks training, Araba Victoria, thanked UNESCO and Zain for supporting their course to improve their skills to compete in the national and the world job market.
