El Obeid Catholic Diocesan Education Coordinator announces that Karaga and Kauda Primary Schools will open doors for operation on Monday after two weeks closure.
Sister Cathy Solano on Friday said they closed the lower classes due to measles outbreak in Kauda and Karaga with advice of health officials that measles spread through human contacts and breathing, Voice of Peace reported.
She added that the closure prevented deaths after the disease claimed lives of six children in Kauda.
The Coordinator dismissed claims of some community members that sending children home was spreading measles to villages.
She added that decision they took was the right procedure for any epidemic outbreak.
Sr Solano said lack of measles vaccination increased risks to the population, urging families to report suspected signs and symptoms to health facilities.
Karaga Primary School teacher reported the disease infected about 80 children.
