Northern Corridor leaders discuss railway project in Juba

The technical committee of Northern Corridor leaders comprising of Kenya, Uganda, South Sudan and Rwanda on Wednesday met in Juba to discuss the standard gauge railway project.
 
The national deputy minister for Transport, Roads and Bridges Simon Mijok Majok said the meeting brainstormed on how to develop the railway in terms of capacity building, Bakhita Radio reported.
 
He added that the committee in its last meeting held in Kigali, Rwanda agreed that the four countries finance the project jointly and that South Sudan would connect from Nimule to Juba.
 
Kenya head of delegation Ambassador Joseph W. N Nyagah urged the committees to take advantage of considering the idea of training Kenyans in China to be trainers.
 
He called on the joint technical committees to take utmost responsibility to enable to quickly submit its report to the African Union Commission.
 
The three-day meeting is expected to end on Friday aims at exploring ways for implementing the standard gauge railway to boost transport system in the region.
