The National Legislature on Monday postponed the National Budget third reading session deliberations to Tuesday due to unpreparedness.
Information and Communication Committee Chairperson Thomas Wani Kundu told CRN that the Assembly’s Economy, Development and Finance Committee headed by Goc Makuac Mayol was still finalizing preparation on the document for smooth presentation.
He added that Tuesday’s session on the third reading deliberations would focus on accounting.
MP Wani said Finance Minister Aggrey Tisa Sabuni is expected to appear in the parliament on Tuesday to answer some questions relating to the budget.
The Chairperson added that the third reading session is expected to be decisive as the fourth one only focuses on grammatical errors and that the presence of the Finance Minister would be important.
The lawmaker explained that Minister Tisa was away during the second reading because of critical mission on economy to the United States with President Salva Kiir Mayardit.
The Economy, Development and Finance Committee in the previous session asked the Finance Ministry on failure to fulfill promise of updating the legislature on the use of emergency funds as quickly as possible.
