The President of the Republic in Juba on Sunday after returning from the US-African summit, publicly rejected Intergovernmental Authority on Development or IGAD’s proposal to create the position of a Prime Minister for Riek Machar.
Salva Kiir Mayardit said his government would accept Dr Machar as the Second Vice President after James Wani Igga, Bakhita Radio reported.
He said the Transitional Constitution does not allow creation of a position of the prime minister in his government.
Kiir said ‘if Riek Machar wanted to serve in the government may be he will serve as deputy vice president but not as a prime minister and if he refuse then he should wait for election’.
