Western Equatoria State Acting Police Commissioner on Saturday reported to the African Union team that police force needs reform for effective service delivery.

Brigadier Richard Aban Diing said the government should procure, install and maintain police efficient communication system and address issues of delayed salaries and underpayment.

He noted that police should be decentralised, reorganised, re-trained and well equipped to render effective services to the community.

Brigadier Aban called on the government to embark on sustainable peace building to alleviate the suffering of South Sudanese.

The Police Commissioner hailed the state Deputy Governor for cautioning the public and organised forces to remain calm, protect peace and stability in the state when the conflict broke out in Juba.

The African Union team leader Pacific Mahirakra said their mission to South Sudan was to find ways to curb the conflict and recommend possibility of reconciliation.
