OCHA says severe flooding affects IDPs in Bentiu

The United Nations Office for the Humanitarian Coordination Affairs or OCHA said severe flooding in the United Nations Mission in South Sudan or UNMISS civilians protection site in Bentiu, Unity State affected Internally displace persons or IDPs, causing sharp deterioration of their living conditions.
 
The Office said relocations to improved displacement sites in other UN bases continued with over 32 thousand people assisted to move from flood-prone areas to higher grounds.
 
It revealed that while the cholera was relatively contained in Central Equatoria and Upper Nile states, the disease continues to spread in Eastern Equatoria.
 
OCHA said a growing number of 227 thousand IDPs returned to their home areas, but remain in need of assistance.
