AMECEA calls for more efforts on new evangelization

Catholic Bishops of the Association of Member Episcopal Conferences in Eastern Africa or AMECEA concluded its 18th plenary in Lilongwe, Malawi with a call for more efforts on new evangelization.
 
The Auxiliary Bishop of the Archdiocese of Juba Santo Loku Pio who participated in the meeting told Bakhita Radio that the conference went very well with a focus on the family, youth chaplaincy and emerged with a number of resolutions.
 
He  said the AMECEA conference agreed that the coming plenary would be conducted in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, hoping that such meetings would take place in South Sudan in the future.
 
Bishop Lokuexplained that 150 Bishops were expected to attend plenary, but only 90 turned up for the meeting due to many problems in different countries.
 
The Auxiliary Bishop said AMECEA took the crisis in South Sudan as a point and promise to give assistance.
 
AMECEA includes South Sudan and Sudan, Eritrea, Ethiopia, Kenya, Uganda, Malawi, Tanzania and Zambia as full members while Djibouti and Somalia are affiliate members.
